Numbers

Konnichiwa Vanyasan

Ohisashiburidesu. Ogenkidesuka?
Moscow no seikatsu wa tanoshii desu ka?
Mainichi nani wo shite imasu ka?

Today I'll teach you numbers.
The numeration of japanese is not so difficult to understand.
Let's try!

I think you've already got how to count and I guess you feel it's easy to remember!

first remember how to count 1 to 10.
then remember the number by each ten times classes like, 10, 100, 1000, 10000.

10 = jyuu
100 = hyaku

・101 = hyaku + ichi, we call like ' hyaku ichi '.
・200 = ni * hyaku, we call like ' ni hyaku '.

lets see other numbers

・555 = go * hyaku + go * jyuu + go = go byaku go jyuu go
・123 = hyaku + 2 * jyuu + san = hyaku ni jyuu san

see? it's not difficult at all right?

then lets go and see other classes!

1000 = sen
10000 = man

・1111 = sen hyaku jyuu ichi
・4321 = yon sen san byaku ni jyuu ichi
・22222 = ni man ni sen ni hyaku ni jyuu ni
・98765 = kyuu man haseen ( hachi + sen ) nana hyaku roku jyuu go

note ~ "hyaku" and "sen"'s pronunciation changes in following cases

after 3 (san)
  300 = san byaku ······not san hyaku
  3000 san zen ··········not san sen

after 6 (roku)
  600 = roppyaku ········not roku hyaku

after8 ( hachi)
  800 = happyaku ········not hachi hyaku
  8000 = hassen ··········not hachi sen

soo
・8300 = hassen san byaku
・3600 = sanzen roppyaku

have you got it?
hope you have fun with learning japanese

see ya!
